i got a lot of stares, compliments and even smirks on my outfit today.
WAS IT BECAUSE OF THE SOCKS??
maybe so... as the looks and pointing fingers were mostly directed at my feet :).
it's actually quite funny getting those reactions.

i guess fashion is about eliciting reactions and emotions, whether good or bad, from other people.
it's also about experimenting, taking risks and trying out trends.
and besides, i kinda liked the idea of being able to wear my summer sandals into fall.
pictures above are taken at the center for architecture which served as the welcome center for openhousenewyork.
we then walked around greenwich village and saw this pretty pocket garden.

wearing mango cardigan with faux fur collar, mcq alexander mcqueen halter dress,
martin margiela cut-out sandals and my crystal wedding cuff.

a special shout-out to the 2 lovely ladies who said hi to me at urban outfitters, soho.
i was remiss in getting your names but i would love to hear from both of you again! :)
i hope everyone's having a great long weekend!!

Love the outfit! your mango cardigan is super cute.. Good or bad reaction at least it elicited one.. Some shoes (or in your case socks) don't even get glances.. the cutout detail of your shoe is so sexy!

Wow Lynn, this has to be my favourite outfit I've seen from you. I love the understated grey and seafoam tones and the socks are a perfect match...and those Margiela shoes!

I love wearing socks with my shoes! Fashion is definitely about trying new things and just having fun! And I love your outfit - the fur collar makes me want to find you, steal that sweater, and snuggle up against it. I hope that's not weird..
Thanks so much for stopping by!

hi lynn! i give your outfit an A+! these days, i love the look of the ankle socks paired with sandals or peeptoe shoes & you do it flawlessly :) also, you must be a mind reader! i *just* took the fur collar off a coat that i'm no longer using & was wondering how to use it, so i'll attach it to a cardigan now! thanks for the inspiration!!!

If people were snickering...it's because they were jealous!
How do you know about so many events? Do you read Time Out or do you subscribe to something?
Haven't seen you in a while...hope all is well!

your dress is wonderfully dramatic yet at the same time understated. i love how you styled it with the socks and sandals!

I think they were staring cause you're gorgeous.
I adore those shoes and the fur cardi, such a fabulous and fun outfit. And I love the picture of you on the bench!

I love your dress! And those Martin Margiela sandals, ugh, I'm jealous. It's funny how you're all smiling in all your photos, so nice to see that, it makes dressing up empowering and positive rather than something that is such a drag. (: I didn't know you're Filipino too until I scrolled down and saw your entry about the flooding and storm in the Philippines. It's rare to see Filipinos liking Margiela and Ann D!

that mcq dress is to die for!!! i love the socks trend too!!
Posted by: karla | 10/13/2009 at 08:25 AM
I actually think the socks are a cute touch! I'd rather you wear the socks than actual tights with open-toed shoes! Love the cardigan and McQ dress as well. I've just been catching up on your last posts as well... so many lovely outfits and congrats on being in the Style Sample issue! Also enjoyed your Murakami pics... I went to his exhibit in Germany last year and loved it! (although the LV room scared me a bit...)
